I had to de-ice my Ulock today to ride in to work. I did so by dumping about 20 ml of methyl hydrate
over the shackle and lock face - it worked like a charm.
Now, should I re-lube the lock, or will that just gum things up?

Use a lube made specifically for locks, and it won't gum up.
