Hi All,

This may have been answered previously, but how does Deore, Deore LX etc compare with the road groups such as Sora,Tiagra etc. Is Deore the equivalent of Tiagra? and so on.

thanks.

Road: Sora, Tiagra, 105, Ultegra, Dura Ace
MTB: LX, XT, XTR

Gauging from the cost of equivalent components, the road groups are positioned a cut above the mountain stuff.

This is from Shimano: DuraAce=XTR, Ultegra=Deore XT, 105=Deore LX, Tiagra=Deore, Sora=whatever comes below Deore.

Before the LX is also (in reverse order) Deore, Alivio, Acera and Tourney. There's also Hone and Saint groups somewhere around the XT and XTR group.

Thanks Mate,

exactly what I was looking for;)

Here's hoping for an Acera road group. I found Acera to be durable for commuting and, put plainly, good enough.
