Absolutely- and many, many moons ago. But when you have a moderator that shares some/much of the same sentiment as the offender, this is kind of "moderation" that you get.
By far the worst (attempted) offender on this forum, and still not enough to get banned (or even chastised appropriately). Things that make you say, "hmmmmmm"....
Complicity is the best description.

He has been warned. Are you guys telling me it should only go one way?

I don't disagee with you. I hate any generalized slams on any group and especially if I fall into that group. I guess that is just human nature. So please keep the dicussion civil and on topic. No more friendly warnings will be issued from me.

Generalizations and stereotypes are well proven by reality.

That's why we have...generalizations and stereotypes.

Well , I don't live in a double wide, have chickens in the yard, drink mooshine for breakfast, have three cars up on blocks in the yard or watch NASCAR and rastling (wrestling for the uninformed). Although there are days the moonshine seems a sensible alternative to ths reality of which you speak.

The reason why we have stereotypes is because of ignorance, laziness, and the unwillingness of people to being open to learning. A stereotype allows such person to avoid considering another person as a real human being. Stereotypes ignore a person's individual attributes and instead impose false assumptions about a group on said person. Stereotypes are the foundation upon which hate groups are built.

"Well , I don't live in a double wide,"

That single-wide is easier to heat. Besides, if'n you pull another one up 90° to yours, you can have an awesome 'L'-shaped ranch house!

"have chickens in the yard,"

Free-range chickens FTW! They're like green and ecological an' stuff! And they're free!

"drink mooshine for breakfast,"

Daddy always said, "Son, you can't drink all day 'less you start before breakfast!". Up here, the shine is rare and usually crappy. Now,I'll set you down to some of the best Rum money can buy and I've got some cigars to go with it that will have us swearing off bikes! Or at least wanting to ride the Harleys to Daytona after smoking a coulple.

"have three cars up on blocks in the yard"

No judging!!!!

"or watch NASCAR"

They gots a champ named Kezalooski? Has the world gone mad?!?!

"and rastling (wrestling for the uninformed)."

That ****'s almost as fake and doped up as professhnul bicycle racin'!

"Although there are days the moonshine seems a sensible alternative to ths reality of which you speak."

I hear ya! I could turn into a Sterno bum rather than listen to Rice spin one more lie about Ben Ghazi! Oy!!!

Hey, did ya know on this date in 1942, the brave French scuttled their fleet in port? Thus denying zee Churmans le victory! Winning by losing! Just my humble attempt at helping humanity...or what's left of it...remember the important stuff!

This is very true, and in a way I'm as guilty as any by lumping Republicans into one ball at times. I happen to know a few Republicans who are close friends and they're not always typical. However, with a group like Republicans there is a central leadership that sets the policies and the tone and that is what I'm railing against, as well as their central media outlets like the bloggers and Fox News.

However, I think the bigger political issue right now is the disturbing trend in Congress towards the extremes in both parties. Many moderate congressmen and congresswomen were either defeated or retired from both parties and were replaced by people on the wings. Republican or Democrat, it's the extremists that frost my shorts the most.

And the upstart is that even with the extremists, if you get to know them you find out that they actually have more in common then they have differences. In fact, I'm beginning to believe that Obama and Boehner actually like each other in private (and want the same things, just don't agree on how to get there).

It also bothers me this new trend of people acting like the world is going to end when their party doesn't win. There was a time when after an election people grumbled a bit but they got behind their president. Now we've had two consecutive presidents where the other side threatened to succeed from the union upon their re-election (Bush 2004, Obama 2012, ironically enough both candidates I voted for). That behavior is shameful.

Having visited Mount Vernon the day after Thanksgiving, I was struck at exactly how much, in a single day, I'd come to admire Washington. If half of what is written about him is true, that was one hell of a man. But I kept wondering what he would think if he were resurrected today and got a load of modern day politics.

A stereotypical rant. So very predictable...the very premise of the stereotype. Predictability and repeatability. Voila! The stereotype confirmed.

This proves, once again, a person with individual attributes (unique, just like everyone else!) can become a caricature of themselves.

This...is political correctness defined and personified.

Go ahead and accuse people you don't know of being ignorant. Of being lazy. Of being unwilling to learn.

Guess what? YOU'RE STEREOTYPING. Congratulations on your doctorate in hypocrisy. Brilliant.

In a nutshell, that is the big problem. Not only does it create a completely impotent Congress, it runs counter to the will of the people, the vast majority of whom detest the inaction that results from such polar politics and who actually want Congress to work toward solutions together. Not only is that proven in many polls, it's directly reflected in the current 9% (I think that's the current stat) approval rating of Congress. We don't need Congress to act like petulant children.

"We don't need Congress to act like petulant children."

Yes, we do.

They are the only remaining check against the imbalance of a socialist executive branch and increasingly socialist judiciary.

I hope they throw up every possible road block to the communists and gimmee free stuff loons.

we, as a voting public, tend to keep sending the same person to represent us in the house and expect other districts to send "better" representatives. i point to that district in minnesota which sent bachmann back to congress even though they had a more moderate alternative. i will grant that those who go to the house with higher ambitions tend to be less able to find common ground with those from across the aisle.

Here is a low hanging fruit example of partisan politics that exemplifies everything that is wrong with Washington.

The Filibuster.

No matter who holds power in congress, that party will extol on the evils of the Filibuster and try to get it changed. What ever party is the minority will extol on how it's an important part of the political process and should never be removed. Often the same person in one term who trashes it will then, upon finding themselves in the minority party, praise it.

Nobody can, with a straight face, call this a left or right problem. But it's a good example of what drives me nuts about politics.

agreed on that point. i have to believe that the filibuster serves a great purpose when it is isn't abused as it has been over the past few years. i don't find myself agreeing with reid right down the line on its elimination, but would prefer to see the end of the "secret" filibuster. if a senator is eager enough to tie an anchor to a piece of legislation, i figure we are owed an explanation from that senator.

Here is someone else who gets my point:  Newt Gingrich's daughter: http://townhall.com/columnists/jackiegingrichcushman/2012/11/29/if_no_one_goes_with_you_you_cannot_win/page/full/ As before I don't necessarily agree with her 100%, but her point in this article is pretty much identical to mine earlier in the thread.
She made one point that goes to the heart of the ineffectiveness of hardline dogma:
Jackie Gingrich Cushman said:
Politics is successful only if it results in implemented policy; the rest is for naught. Since both sides have to negotiate to get a budget passed and implemented, is it smart tactically to say to the other side, "I'm just not willing to negotiate" on this, that or the other?
That's it in an armored nutshell. Politics fails when elected representatives are in an endless loop of stalemate. Politicians fail when they get nothing done. Right now. the politics and the politicians are failing badly.

That's what has me desenchanted with the whole affair. A good Stephen Hunter novel keeps me in much better spirits and somehow the sun still keeps rising each morning.
