Hello, I am starting to cycle indoors for exercise. Incidentally, I noticed that there are three different types of stationary bike: Upright; Recumbent; Indoor Cycling.

Can someone explain the differences in terms of pros and cons?

Sorry no one has responded, I just noticed this myself. Upright is just like riding a regular bike, while the recumbent is more like sitting on a low chair with your legs out in front of you. The pros and cons are really more personal then fitness reasons. If you have a bad back then the recumbent would be better suited towards you as would a recumbent bike, otherwise the upright is just fine too.

Here's a web site that explains in more detail without me having to type it all out: Recumbent Exercise Bike vs Upright Exercise Bike

For me, I wouldn't buy anything like that.

If you own a bike, why not get something you can mount your bike on instead? It'll be much cheaper and you'll be adapting to exactly the bike you ride outdoors.

Look up....Kurt Kinetic Road Machine.....(for example) if you aren't familiar with what I mean.
