  1. Hey everyone, I nicked a plow marker (rebar) the other day out on a ride. Dinged/Bent a front spoke about 5 degrees perhaps and another that can only be felt with the hand. No bike shops had any 274 length spokes for a mavic aksium in stock so I am waiting until next weds to have them come in. I was just wondering if it would be safe to ride on the wheel 1 or 2 times till then about 20 miles? The rim is slightly out of true I'd say by 3 centimeters using the brake pad method to check for a wobble.

    Thanks.

  2. As long as it is only slightly bent you could probably still ride it. If there is cutting of the spoke, it may not be safe. I don't think that a 5 degree bend is going to hurt you at all. Remember they are bent 90 degrees at the head. Anyway, I would ride it gently if at all. Broken spokes at any speed are no fun. Actually you may be able to true up the wheel a little if you wanted to mess with it.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I'll prob do just about 15 today or something.

  4. If the rim is 3cm out of true, it wouldn't be rideable. You meant 3mm?
