  1. Well, here we are - June 5. It's so wet, windy and chilly
    that I talked my husband into fixing his famous beef stew
    for dinner. For some reason, his turns out better than
    mine. Sobering.

    It *was* yummy and hit the spot on this dismal evening. He
    puts everything in it but the kitchen sink - any suitable
    leftovers go in, too. Leftover beef juices? In they go.
    Small amount of onion soup? In it went. Everything always
    finishes up rich and satisfying. Not gourmet fare but
    perfect for today.
