and what the hell do you think happens to those dairy cows after they've lost that loving feeling? I suppose you wear leather, too.
Um, check your research. Old dairy cows don't produce leather. There are completely seperate animals that are born and die for your shoes and jacket. Different ways of raising them, different feed, different exercise to produce soft supple leather rather than creamy flowing milk. OH yeah, but to know this, you'd have to have your brains somewhere other than your ass.
Um, read what I wrote before sputtering. I didn't say that they made leather from dairy cows.

Yeah, and in 17 years of making these dietary choices, I've never been confronted by juvenile holier-than-thou eaters like you before. Ouch, you hurt me so much, I'm crying.
BTW, are you a raw foodie vegan? Or just a [censored]?

my faaaabulous caesar dressing (not really mine but hell, I made it, so it's mine now!)((the real vinaigrette style dressing, lotsa garlic, not one of those weird creamy ones))
"Real" vinaigrette style dressing?
A "real" Caesar salad is made with Parmesan cheese and egg, both of which contribute to a creamy texture.
Aaaah, so what? It sounds faaaabulous to me....Hey, Jude, is that a recipe you're willing to share? Thx!
You can whisk this all together in a bowl, but I'm lazy. I just put all the ingredients in a small mason jar or old washed jelly jar and shake the hell out of it.
8 T olive oil 5 T red wine vinegar 8 - 10 cloves crushed garlic (I used 5 last night. The original eaters loved garlic!) 1/2 tin flat anchovy fillets, minced fine then mashed with a fork 2 t dijon mustard 1 t lemon juice 1 raw egg salt & pepper to taste
Serve over a classic caesar - rub your wooden salad bowl with a garlic clove, add romaine lettuce and grated parmesan cheese. Toss with dressing, top with croutons. Optional: top salad with the4 remaining anchovy filets.
This is so good! (Probably the best thing I ever recieved frm my ex's family....)

Oh, can I vote on this one? I vote for the second option but maybe you should have added a third option - troll. She contributes nothing to cooking or this newsgroup other than nasty, revolting comments. If there was the troll option, that would be my choice!

My boyfriend's mom got cataract surgery today. She had a ride to and from the doctor's office (My BF was going to take her but she didn't want him to take off work), but I knew she'd come home to an empty apartment, tired from the surgery, and end up ordering a pizza. So I offered to bring her dinner and company for the evening, and my offer was cheerfully accepted.
So I asked the BF, what do you think I should make? She's second generation italian-American, so my usual lasagne with homemade sauce was out - not up to her Mom's standards I'm sure! I'm a fish-eating vegetarian,
Then you're not a vegetarian.
How many freaking times do we have to go over this? -L.

I was a vegetarian for twenty years, and I finally gave up trying to explain to people that fish aren't vegetables.

As many as you'd like.
Since you're STILL not the boss of me, L, you don't get to decide what I call myself. You call yourself whatever you'd please. But until you somehow gain the authority over me that earns my respect, I really don't need to listen to your opinions.

Has nothing to do with me deciding anything. Vegetarians don't eat fish. You just make yourself look like an idiot by insisting you are a "vegetarian". Furthermore, if you post to an unmoderated Usenet group, don't get all indignat when you receive feedback. You make yourself look even more like an idiot.

Funny, becasue in the anti-bullying curriculum we use as part of the Teaching Tolerance program, we teach kids that those who choose to call others names with no provocation are the idiots, and those who take it with nothing but a 'so what you jerk' are the bigger, more mature people.

Teaching Tolerance program? :-P
Whatever happened to teaching them math and English and history? (a little biology wouldn't hurt so they can differentiate between the different kingdoms)

So now you're positioning yourself as "Teacher"... well, this is not a classroom and if it were it certainly wouldn't be yours.
Anyway, I've never yet met someone proclaiming to be a vegetarian who didn't somehow rationalize the eating of meat in one form or another, even were it bugs in grains/flours. And if you're eating fish you are definitely not a vegetarian... not any kind of vegetarian... then you may as well eat a ham sandwich.

Well SHE started it! How would you like it if I wrote about my faaaabulous Thousand Island salad dressing, then went on to say "the real vinaigrette-style Thousand Island dressing, not one of those weird creamy ones"?
Bob
well, I think she meant like one of those *creamy* creamy ceasar dressings. they're like creamy garlic with parmesan. ick.

Hit the nail right on the head. i hate going out and ordering Caesar salad, and getting romaine with parmesan and croutons, and a dressing that's akin to a garlicy ranch.
Yes, I used both raw egg and cheese (asiago instead of parmesan, tho), and the dressing was perfect.
Other than that, I'm staying out of all caesar arguments. ------------
Ignore the critics Jude. They're just upset that they weren't invited. LOL I'd say you did a fine job. If it's edible - it's good.
