I recently purchased a Marin road bike from an online distributor. I love the bike, but I made the mistake of not sitting in it before I bought it. As it turns out, Marin frames are a bit long, and its kind of a stretch getting comfortable on the handlebars (especially the drop bars!). I realize my fitting mistake, but the frame is only slightly too long for me...
Are there Marin compatible replacement bars that are slightly offset (toward the rider) to shorten the distance I would need to stretch my arms while riding? Ie. instead of a straight post, are there posts that set the bars back an inch or two?

From looking at Marin's site, I suspect that your bike probably has a standard 1-1/8" threadless headset and steerer. You should probably be able to get a shorter stem (e.g. if you have 110mm stem possibly change it to an 80mm) which would be the easiest quick fix. 2 inches may be pushing it a bit, however, if your original stem is very short to begin with. Depending on how the curent stem is spaced, you may also be able to get a stem with greater rise as well as shorter length and remove spacers to keep the vertical rise about the same and reduce the reach slightly.

I have a drop. Quick ? though. How would SHORTENING the stem decrease the reach? Really, I'm trying to shift the steerer back horizontally toward the rider. You figure I should just try swapping steering columns at a store until I find a better one?[font='Times New Roman'][/font]

I think we are having a terminology conflict. On a threadless setup (as oppossed to a quill-type) the stem is the more or less horizontal piece, that connects the steerer (the vertical post that is connected to the fork through the headset ) to the handlebars.
