Distance walking sandals?

Hello!

I go for 20k walks with a pack on, about twice per week. Presently I wear sandals without socks.
That's how I prefer to do it. But there are limitations. I get blister formation and various other
pains if I go more than 20 k in a single trip.

I walk on bad road conditions: much of it gravel, stones, etc. Occasionally I get caught in the
rain, which means my footwear has to stand up to a certain amount of water now and then.

I'm looking for tough, reliable sandals that I can wear without socks to walk 30 - 40 km stretches
on bad roads. The problem is that some sandals feel great for the first 10 k but then fail miserably
for longer distances. So it's very hard for me to judge or guess what to expect just by trying some
on in the store.

If any of you have experience with long distance walking in sandals on bad roads, let me know what
your recommendations are, and also what sort of things to stay away from.
