A stupid question or two.
I have heard that, anymore when a person undergoes major
surgery and where they use a General Anaesthetic, that they
"kill you" prior to surgery. That is, that they purposely
STOP your heart and your breathing, and they put you on a
heart/lung machine. Is this true?
The rationale is this: in order to keep from troubling
themselves to actually closely monitor your heart and your
breathing, they end-run around all that "nuisance" and pre-
empt matters by KILLING you, at the outset. Then they switch
you to heart/lung machine which does the dirty work for them
--keeping you alive...on THEIR schedule.
Again, I have heard numerous folks tell me this. Is this
actually what hospital procedure is, nowadays?
