Other than the bushing for the swingarm, you should be able to replace any of the parts that are currently on the bike with whatever you want ...
The only other limitation would be the need to maintain continuity with the drivetrain -- EITHER replace 8-speed stuff with 8-speed stuff OR upgrade to 9-speed stuff.
