Does anyone know what type of race this is.

I was wondering if anybody has any information about a race (I think
it's a track thing) where on the first lap the first fider accross the
line gets a point, second lap 2 point, third lap 3 points up to 10 or
25 laps. The winner is the person with the most points. Know what this
is called? Is it a track event? Can it be adapted to a crit type event?

Well, with points given at the rate 1, 2, 4, 8, 16,... it's usually
called a "scratch race", that is, person who wins at the end wins the
whole thing.

Wonder how long it will take him to realize that there's no possible way for
anyone else to win the race (as described) except for the person who takes
the last lap.
