I've got a brand new EAI (high zoot factor) 3/32" 16 tooth cog, if you're interested (I went 1/8th when I got my shiny new Record cranks, and never did use the 16 I'd bought). That'll give you a 71", which is right on the money for general tooling around...

Say $20?

Regards,

Suzy

zoot factor? I have no zoot. Oh no! does it come in carbon fibre?
wots the 3/32 and 1/8th you mention?

No plastic (carbon) on this one. It's machined steel. See Sheldon's site: http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/fixed.html#sprockets

It's the width of the cog in inches. 1/8 is wide, and needs a BMX or track chain, whereas 3/32 is narrower, and uses a "normal" chain, like a 7 or 8 speed or whatever. If you're using road cranks, you probably want 3/32.

Suzy

Around the 70" mark.
FrontTeeth/BackTeeth * 27 = Gear Inches
My 48/18 is 72"

You can probably get 3/32 and 1/8th sizes but I'm sure
I've used mine on both?
I've got two of them - I'll have a look tonight..
One came with the track bike and I already had one.
You might be able to have one.. "special price for you" ;)

Wandered down to Peter Moore's place. What a wonder. Like the 'perfect shed' complete with birko and tranny. He has a guy sharing space with him who does framebuilding and repairs/modifications and lots of stuff you cant get anywhere else. A cabinet full of 2nd hand stuff and some stuff you see in OS mags but cant get here bcos the local market is run by distributors.

He's sorting out my fixie:
Drilling in brake-hole in front fork
fitting my old Veloce brake
fitting my new bullhorn bars and tape
fitting the new bar-end caliper ($20-bargain!)
changeing over to my newly acquired 18T (saw he had the identical cogs for $10!!!)
trueing wheels
fitting rear axle-adjuster-tightener-thingy ($20)

think i have found a new LBS. maybe not for the roady as he freely admits his main line is commuter and touring stuff but peering around the shop is enough to keep you coming back. Lot of stuff just 'lying around' and quite a few 2ndhand bikes of all shapes and sizes available. even had some minute kids road bikes (or women's) ready to make up for 650cc wheels, etc

picking it up Monday after work. VERY excited
