A couple of offcut 4x2's from the cubby you built your kids last summer, a tube of liquid nails, a quick coat of dulux varnish and bingo, there's that new bike frame you always wanted.

What a beautiful bit of gear hey ! Any guesses as to how it would perform ?

It's shaped an awful lot like a Bianchi. Could be a veneer job.

No, they're for real, see their website. According to them the frames weigh in at 4-5lbs, not exactly the lightest around, but workable. If you slap some top-of-the-line components and wheels on, you can still end up with a bike around 16lbs or so. The prices are not too far out there, either (around 2 grand for the frameset). I'd love to get me one of these...

Weight and price are not too bad hey. I mean, you wouldn't go buy one as your main bike, but it is cool enough to be your best bike.

Good for swimming with or as emergency fuel if you become stranded. What a conversation piece. A friend told me that wood is still the strongest material given it's weight to strength ratio. But how could that be true? Hmmm....

I'm totally unimpressed. Be it judged by bike standards or art standards, I find zero aesthetically pleasing about it. All it really has going for it is that it's not quite as ugly--almost, but not quite--as Calfee's bamboo bikes.

11,000+ psi tensile strength. Up there with steel.
