Your problem most likely is because your return line basically only returns surface water in and out
to filter. Change your water return to pool so it flows towards the surface, and have your return to
filter draw from the bottom of your pool. If your pool is used sufficiently poor circulation
generally isn't a problem. Kids jumping up and down agitate water and cause the sanitizer to
disperse pretty much evenly. But as you probably know you still need to scrub away small pockets of
algae that are encased by dead algae. Before shocking, take a sample to determine whether you need
to use sodium chloride, which will not increase the hardness, or calcium hypochloride, which will
increase the hardness, or lithium hypochloride which will increase your total alkalinity without
increasing the hardness. BTW, sodium chloride has a pH of about 13. If this is what you've been
using for everyday chlorinating I'd change to solid sticks or pucks.
