a heaping full plate of crow for me. contador, cancellara and riis brought together through the ministrations of specialized.

Contador To Leave Astana At End Of Season | Cyclingnews.com

while i figured that contador would leave astana, i would have bet the farm on caisse winning the sweepstakes.

strategically, won't riis be smiling like the cat having contador (and that lineup of support riders) and an insider's knowledge of andy's strengths and weaknesses.

I thought this was a thread about Lance getting back with Cheryl.

I believe it's spelt with an 'S' (I bet she 'knows' stuff & will be quite willing to spill the beans to all & sundry bearing in mind Lance gave her the 'heave ho' when she got cancer)

Crafty old 'Barney' :D - he's bagged the best stage racer, the best classics racer & a 24 carat road captain in Danny Navarro (who won my unofficial domestique of the T de F award). Will he get Jens Voigt into the bargain as well?

What were the Schlecks thinking off parting company with him? I expect they'll end up at Radioshack :)eek:)

The Schlecks are going to a team built around them and based in Luxembourg. The team will be run by Kim Andersen, who was working for Riis until Riis found out he was using his time to strip Saxo of its riders. The move does not seem that smart. Riis is the best team manager in the business.

I am not sure about Contador's move. He had it pretty nice at Astana and was being paid a boatload. Astana is currently the number one ranked team and did fantastic at the TdF.

Dude at least be cool about the cancer thing. We know you hate Lance, but she reviled the cancer long after she broke it off with him. Seriously, cancer now. You suck.

Yes , I think you are correct and also it is Crowe I believe.
I suspect that Vino wanted to be back as captain, it is my understanding it is basically his team.

Not sure what you mean by that.

What can be stated with certainty is they split in '06 & immediately after she was treated for cancer (& has happily recovered)

He is already captain. He also knows that he cannot win the Tour. In fact he said that the Giro was his last chance to win another GT. Although I would not be surprised to see him at the Vuelta. He seems to be quite honest with himself about not being able to match the top climbers in a GT.

Yep - the '08 Sastre victory was his masterpiece.

I'm not sure what AC is up to. Perhaps he's attracted to the idea working someone who knows his major rival inside out? Fed up with Vino & the Khazaks?

Sportsmen who are managed by their family members often make odd decisions but he'll be OK if he goes with Riis.

i have to admit that this is a brilliant move by contador. he's freeing himself of the whole astana nightmare tours (armstrong and vino) and into the spot where he's the selected one for gt captain and gets riis as his strategist. this strikes me as a better move on a.c.'s part than the move sastre made to cervelo.

is this mind set of yours why mrs. huskey keeps a switch in arm's reach?

& Cancellara will be handy in the likely event there is a TTT next year.

I don't beleieve Vino ever gives up on possibilities. That's what makes him an interesting rider. He is unpredictable.

that would certainly make the all the message boards very interesting.

She only beats me to get results and never just for fun. Boring!

i admit that i'm a bit surprised that there was no rumour about liquigas losing any of their 4 top riders. certainly leaky can't hope to hold basso, nibali, kreuziger, and sagan in the same stable.

I would say he has a chance at a Vuelta win this year, but he has ridden a lot of miles this season.

I like Vino he is explosive and wild and just when you think he is down he comes back but he will be 37 this year.

To be a "standout" in later life you will need a different drug.
