Does any one know the significance of the fans dressed in devil costumes during the Tour de France? Every year my Dad and I see at least 2 or 3 and we were wondering if there was some historical reason. Thanks!

The guy you see the most with the white beard is a German. You see him in the Tour and other races usually near the top of the days major climb. He had a 100 on his pitch fork for the 100th anniversary of the Tour. He has been doing it for at least five years. I have seen an interview before and besides the devil costume he seems to be a normal guy.

The original Devil is German, Didi Senft. He's been on the Tour for ages...

Google his name to learn more.
