[Electrical] Request for Help

Hi, we're two students that need to find out how promising the application
of a certain new type of motor were in electric bicycles. We contacted
various manufacturers that claim to be big players, but only Currie replied.
In addition to our own googling, we thought people in this very active
newsgroup might know shortcuts to answers on the following questions:

1. Are there any other important companies that we missed? (list: below)
2. Is there some introductory website on e-bike motor concepts?
3. Where could we get information on market size and developments?

We'd be glad if anyone mailed us manufacturers' names or other sources' web addresses, however
remotely promising. Thanks in advance!

This is not an active electric bike dsicussion area.

Your list of manufacturers is mixed with motor makers and systems integrator manufactures who second source motors from motor specialty, so it's ambigious whether you are just looking for motor makers or kit or bike makers, so this list is less specific than it might otherwise be.

Panasonic is the largest manufacturer of electric bikes in the world.
Look at the 4 major Japanese manufacturers since the Japanese electric bike market is larger than the resto of the world combined, as well as Heinzman, Birkestrand, Wavecrest, and EPS as cutting edge motor innovators.

Aprilia is innovating Hydrogen fuel cells, Oxygen NiZn batteries. Sanyo and Panasonic as well since they a major battery makers as well as electric bike makers.
There were big Kudos last month on the new Honda and Yamaha bikes at the Tokyo show, I can’t recall which since neither exports their electric bikes but one was very long range and the other was ultra light.

No pure electric bike groups yet, although powerassist is about 2/3 electric bikes.
