elite trainer rollers

hello, no posting for a while... i just sold an old trainer i had, before closing the deal i noticed these thin bands a few inches away from the outer side, in the same position as this picture, but only on one side in each of the three drums/rollers, is this normal or is it a failure risk or warning sign, p.s. it has been stored for a long time but were in fairly new condition,

No clue, vspa. Perhaps it is the end cap-drum joint. Could it possibly be a secondary drive groove for accessories such as a fan or a fluid resistance unit?

Your picture is sized so small that I can't see the shape of the feature, but I doubt it is a sign of wear or failure on a nearly new condition unit. Elite makes quality products.
