  1. write your congress-critter today! eliminate all bicycle-related safety
risk! we have the technology so let's use it!

    write and demand the following:

    1. establishment of a new f.b.a. - federal bicycle authority.
    2. mandate roadworthiness inspections every 150 hours of operation or 6
months, whichever comes first. all bicycles have to be certified
roadworthy by an accredited inspector. testing to include ultrasound,
x-ray and dye penetrant testing of all structural components and frame
    welds.
    3. all bicycle maintenance technicians must be federally licensed, and
have annual license renewal testing requiring at least 50 hours per year
of additional training, refresher courses and technical updates.
    4. all bicycles to have work and operation logs detailing hours of
    operation, use, maintenance, etc.
    5. all bicycles must have a sticker with inspector's signature clearly
    on display at all times.
    6. violators riding bicycles without valid inspection certification or
current logs punishable by fines of up to $100,000 per occurrence.
    7. violators found to be performing maintenance operations without valid
current license punishable by fines of up to $1,000,000 and five years
    in jail.
    8. no disk brakes allowed. [front mounted rim caliper brakes are ok.]

we can do this people! all the above are possible - there is no excuse
for not implementing. think of the children!

[oh, it'll cost $10,000 to $20,000 per year per bike. but that's ok -
    this is about safety.]
