Nah, not a problem. If you really wanna do a (yuck! An idea
whose time has gone!) half-step-plus-granny setup, a
standard "double" type front derailer is the ticket.

The I've got a 22 toth diff on my Hetchins (50-28 double)
and the Dura-Ace double (or maybe it's a 105, I don't
recall) handles the range with no problem, and would
probably handle more.

I am currently using a Sh. 600, which is working fine, but
I don't know what year it is, and nothing lasts forever...

I'm having good luck with an NOS Suntour Cyclone M-II. My
chainrings are
52/48/33, but I think it would handle 22 teeth no problem.

Thanks. And Sheldon, the reason I'm sticking with half step
is because I have yet to fnd a more even spacing of gears,
efficient use of as many of them with as easy to remember
and use shifting pattern.
