Just thought I'd recommend the pack of very nicely produced cycle maps
for Essex what I got for my birthday. Details at
http://www.realessex.co.uk and follow the link on the home page, and
nb there is an embedded link to a PDF example which is at

http://www.realessex.co.uk/content/download/3668/51635/file/Cycle+Essex+sample+Route+4.pdf

Mind you, people from the S and SE of Essex might be offended that
they are noticeably missed out, with all nine maps covering mid, NE
and NW Essex, so no routes around Basildon, Thurrock, Tilbury,
Southend, Rochford, Burnham or Bradwell.

The example shown was plotted by the members of Colchester Cycle
Campaign. <http://www.colchester-cycling.org.uk/>

A couple more routes in central Essex and some in Suffolk
<http://www.eminent.demon.co.uk/rides/index.htm>
But beware the pubs aren't what they used to be :(
(Except the **** at Brent Eleigh is still excellent.)
