Wasn't it Jhimmy who suggested that his car struggled, with its small
engine? I was thinking of problems caused by towing with a little car
- coaches have huge engines!

FWIW the last time I did Striding Edge I found it distinctly more
daunting right on the crest than when I first did it back in the 50s. I
even had to take my hands out of my pockets (at times).

We went over it in an ancient Austin J2 minibus, laden with about
twelve passengers, when I was a kid. I recall a few times when my dad
had to hold it with the footbrake while one of us shoved a rock behind

Gulp! LDV 200 series here. It were the thought of all that
passing other vehicles wot put us off the idea of trying it.
