Hi all,
I'm new to the group - however, like many, I've been a long time
lurker, and rather impolitely my first post is a request for advice -
sorry!
Until recently I've been using my old mountain bike for my daily
commute to work through the centre of York, and for weekend
expeditions that take me a little further a-field. Seeing as I was
having quite a bit of fun, I decided that I should stop being such a
cheep skate and buy a proper bike - so £340 lighter I exit a bike shop
with a specialized sirrus - very nice too.
After a few rides, and a lot of "I can't believe how much easier and
quicker this bike is...", I have noticed a few things of concern. In
particular I have noticed the teeth on the largest chain wheel (the
most frequently used) are extremely pointy - some are even sharp!
There is also noticeable wear on my favourite gears at the rear wheel.
Seeing as I have only had the bike 3 weeks, and only done about 150
miles should I expect to see this sort of wear? Should I be taking
the bike back to the bike shop and demanding some sort of
remuneration? I have cleaned and lubed the bike weekly, and I have
been using the finish line dry lube.
Another thing I have noticed is that one of the teeth on the granny
gear is shaped like a sharks fin, is this normal?
As stated the bike is a specialised sirrus, and I believe its the 2004
model, which has the following components

Can someone please offer some words of wisdom, I can post links to
some photos if it will help.
