Hi all, i do not agree withe the use of drugs in this sport but i do understand why they would want to take them, we all know that it is THE toughest sport in the world. What i especialy dont agree with thought is the expulsions. There simply is no integrity in it. Firstly because i believe and i cannot be the only one that ,there will be many others in the peloton who will be doping but using other docters.Surely the only way to have integrity is to suspend all riders who have a doctor which is probably most of the peloton. These riders have not been indicated in any scandal, but all the same there is a BIG possibility they doping too. The stance of withdrawing riders this late could cause more damage than good. From what ive read the suspended riders have never tested positive and the paper work found is a little vague, althought i may be wrong on that point as i have only drawn imformation from the net. What do the Tour organisers really believe? That the majority of riders are clean and there is only a few that dope. In my opinion that is so naÏve. It is not just the Grand Tours but also the one day races, these guys do so ,much all year round that it is probably reasonable to say that without doping they would become sick. Yes this is not excuse to dope but without it races may have to change. Either in length or severity. From books i have read about the tour in the past , riders have doped with alcohol, crude amphetimines and steroids to finnish races. So this hightlights the real facts that these guys need a little something to recover. Not just from the racing but also the large schedule of preparation traing that they do for a race. Today riders have at their disposal a champagne of drugs, which are mostly if not all administerd by a specialist. It is human nature to want to be better to be stronger than your opponant. To withdraw the riders ( which i belive is the vast majority) will spoil the sport. You go to any other sport take bobdybuilding for example. They obviously have a massive doping problem. If you take an athelete from the Mr Olympia competion and put him next to a bodybuilder from a 3natural" competion then you will see a huge diffrence. Not many people follow the "natural" scene because it is not intresting enought, the bodybuilders are too skinny. What they want to see is "monsters" "freaks". Just like we do in the Tours and races. We want to see faster races and bigger and faster attacks( well i do anyway). Not slower races with people sitting in the peloton crusing at twenty five mile an hour. With bodybuilding thought it is possible to see the effects of drugs on a person who is taking them; with cycling it isnt that easy. There are no distinguishing outer effects on a cyclist that you could say "hell he is on something". So where does that leave the sport , i dont really know but the expulsion of these key riders to me is like using a shotgun to remove a zit" it works but it leaves a reall mess behind itself!" cheers all nath
