I just got the word that
on Hwy 2, the Los Angeles Crest Highway, from
La Canada to Wrightwood, USFS honors and accepts
Golden Age Passport (age over 62 -- $10.- one time)
INSTEAD of the FOREST ADVENTURE PASS to visit your own
public lands of the Angeles National Forest (it's NOT a Nat. Park)
Also the Golden Eagle Passport (annual $ 15.-), the Golden Eagle
Passport (annual $ 15.-), National Parks Pass (annual $ 50.-)
Golden Access Passport (free for the disabled) are accepted.
Noteworthy is the Golden Age Passport where the USFS [censored] still
cruelly squeeze $10.- from the feeble Social Security income of the
old fogies. At least it's a start on the way to doom the perversion called
Fee-Demo. Protest to get rid of this ghastly thievery & double taxation,
and make the access FREE again to unimproved public lands, as it was.

The U.S. Forest Service's ability to charge special fees at 105 sites around
the country, including the Maroon Bells, suffered a blow in the U.S. Senate
Wednesday night.

Through unanimous consent on the Senate floor, a bill was passed that would
reauthorize the National Recreation Fee Demonstration Program for the
National Park Service but allow it to expire on Dec. 31, 2005, for the
Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and U.S Fish and Wildlife Service.

The fate of the fee demonstration project is far from over. If the U.S.
House passes a bill that reauthorizes the program for all agencies, a
conference committee will have to wrangle over the vast differences between
