Favorite embrocation?

I have never heard or used the stuff - till now. My legs stay plenty warm even on my 20f degree commute today.

However, your question peaked my interest. Can embrocation be used on the feet? How about the face? My feet are the hardest part to keep warm.

I did use a sample packet of BioFreeze on a nasty saddle sore during a ride. It created a pretty powerful - nearly painful sensation in my nether regions for about 10 minutes. It subsided and I think numbed the area a bit. Not reccomended.

I might give it a try if someone has a formulation that I can pick up at the corner store. I have painful arthritis in my left knee anyway, this may provide a dual benefit.

Or perhaps one of these would work:

They appear to be composed primarily of capsaicin and ingredients you would find in chamois cream. One could mix it with something a bit thicker. Perhaps I can just rub some peppers or hot salsa on my legs - tasty!

I'm not looking to use the embrocation to keep me warm but rather to help me warm up on cold rides.

I'd be hesitant to place embrocation on the bottom of feet. There are a lot of nerve endings there, and as such the feet are very sensitive. An embrocation could easily feel too hot on the bottom of the feet. I definitely would not put an embrocation on my face. The fumes can be very strong and might irritate the eyes and mucosal linings (inside of eye lids, inside of nose, inside of mouth).

I've tried Tiger Balm from Walgreens, but it's just not warm enough.

It's funny you mention peppers. Mountaineers have used chili powder lightly sprinkled in socks to keep feet warm at high altitude and in the cold. Of course a few, maybe more, have also discovered that too much can be agonizingly hot.

It's both. Technically it's called a "pervembrocation."

Once I had an embolism. It was not low maintenance.

It picked up burrs and it barked.

A shetland pony is much more dog for the money.
