  1. Hi all, I've been soaking up the knowledge here for the past few months and I'm loving my bike and riding. So, thanks to all for sharing your knowlege.

    On to the questions.

I have a LeMond Alp D'Huez (2004) with 9 spd Ultegra STI shifters, an Ultegra RD, a 105 FD and an Ultegra triple. I'm reasonably handy with tools and I have the Zinn book. I've already read this: cyclingnews.comfix which helped. But....

I'm confused about the trim capabilties on the FD. If I'm on the inner ring and trying to shift to the middle ring, one click of the shifter to the right should do it right? Then another click to the right gives me trim for the mismatch from middle ring to small cogs (moves FD slightly outward) Right?? Then a final click should move it to the Big ring, right??

Also, it seems there is no trim setting when moving from big ring to smaller ring...2 clicks and it's there. Also, I'm having trouble with the sensitivity of the dump lever that moves from the big ring to the smaller rings. Sometimes one click dumps the chain from the big ring to the granny.

I'm having trouble getting all this trimmed out. Can somebody lay it out for me in newbie english please?? Also, when I am going from the middle to the big ring, I have to hold the shifter there with quite a bit of force to get it to change...just clicking won't get it to the big ring. 😠

I know there are issues with getting a triple to be quiet in all settings, but I'm very particular and this is bugging me. I've done a search too. Please HELP!

    Thanks in advance.

    😕

    Bill
