Fennel/Celery -- related?

  1. This is an odd question, but I'm hoping there are some people here who
    might know the answer.

    I'm allergic to celery -- strange but true. A most unfortunate allergy
    since it's hidden in so many different things. On a related note, I also
    react badly to Bok Choy. I assume this is due to some relatedness
    between the two species.

    Does anyone know if fennel is a relative of celery? The stem is
    certainly similar, though its leaves are more dill-like (something I am
    NOT allergic to).

    Since so many tempting recipes seem to have fennel as an ingredient,
    inquiring minds want to know!

    If you had a dictionary you'd know.

    Both fennel and celery are in the carrot family.

    Bok choy however is in the cabbage family
