Fenofibrate?

  1. My highly reputed lipidologist at the Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore has just suggested I go on
    Fenofibrate to supplement my 10 mg Lipitor in lowering my trigs. He just completed a VAP panel for
    me which showed pattern B LDL but my LDL is already very low at 40. I'm a T2 diabetic with a very
    low LDL, moderate HDL, low TC, but stubbornly high trigs (150-350). He said the Fenofibrate would be
    preferable to niacin. I've read some negatives on this board about Fenofibrate. Any suggestions.

  2. Normally a statin and a fibrate are not given at the same time due to complications. Check the PI
    for lipitor and cocomit with a fibrate.

    That would depend on the fibrate. It is true that gemfibrozil should not be administered with
    atorvastatin. Not true for fenofibrate.
