out of curiosity.. anyone used a digital video camera or whatever to get footage of a ride ? what sort of setup is sensible ?

Helmet-mounted cameras are fairly common, and not (quite) as expensive as you might think.

you need a camcorder with a/v in and preferably a lanc socket which lets you control the camera with a microswitch plugged in and a bullet camera, the picture quality can be amazing, will cost you around 500 english pounds to set up

You can get pretty elaborate and spend quite a bit of money in the process. It really depends on what you want to accomplish.

If you're making something suitable for your web site - here's mine, with a video of today's ride - then all you need is your digital camera.

If you want to make something DVD quality then you're going to need to spend considerably more for higher end gear.
