  1. Hi sci.med!

I bent my left forefinger at the 2nd joint (counting from
tip) with a hammer when I missed a nail I was holding. It
hurt, swell, but was not broken. My father said that would
take a long time to heal but when in spring the finger still
would hurt when curled up strongly, either actively or
passively, I showed it to my general doctor and he gave me
5% ibuprofen cream and told me to apply it hourly. I used
the cream only a few times as a creamy or wrapped finger is
    unpractical.

Now the finger still hurts somewhat when curled and the
joint got thicker. My right forefinger just fits through the
bars of my bicycle basket, while my left forefinger won't.
It does not hurt when the finger grabs with full force.

What shall I do? Use the Ibuprofen cream? Will my finger
turn back normal? I'd like to play volleyball.

    Thank you, Bernhard
