I just went looking around at my lbs and found a few things I liked. I found a Trek 4500 for $509, a Haro Escape for $655, and a Cannondale F4 for $840. The Haro was the best fit for me but the price is a little steep for what I can spend now. Im wondering if there is anything comparable to this that I could find used or should I just get a cheaper bike like the Trek 4300 for $389 even though it doesnt appeal as much? Also should I look for an escape sport or comp, is it worth it?

My son has a Trek 4500 and absolutely loves. I have a Specialized Rockhopper HR. I took his bike for a fairly lengthy ride and it felt great. Understand, for the $500 - $600 range you're looking at pretty comparable stuff.Doubt you would go wrong with the 4500.
