ross-<< I am a Mountain Biker looking to replace my slick MTB tires with a road bike. I want
somthing quality that won't break the bank (mid-performance). I would rather pay for a quality frame
and upgrade the componants later, if neccesary. I'm in the "about a grand" price range. I don't even
know the major players in road bike brands. Suggestions? >>

Go to a shop that has the price range you are looking for that also can FIT YOU. No, not a
standover, ride arpound the parking lot or check your inseam, you need a __ size-type fit, but a
genuine fit, preferably on a fit cycle. Also, if after doing this, the one you fit and want needs a
stem or anything else swapped, if they give you a 'thousand yard stare', go elsewhere...If it fits
ya, just about any brand will work for ya.
