I'm going to be doing my first long distance road cycling trip next May. I'll be going from Vancouver BC to Ottawa Ontario, about 4500 km. I've never done antything like this before and am just wondering what kind of training I should do in order to be completely prepared. I would like to complete it in about a month or so, so I will have to average about 150km per day. What kinds of training should I be doing. I am already quite fit as I play a lot of sports and do quite a bit of weight training. I do however realize that I will need to be in tip top cardio vascular condition to be able to bike like 6 - 8 hours a day. I have a stationary bike at home and have a membership at a gym with every type of aerobic equipment.

Just curious, at 5'10, what is the average weight of a long distance cyclist. Right now I'm at 200, but low (12%) body fat. I realize that I will have to sacrifice muscle mass, but how much? I don't really want to go any lighter than about 180 before I leave for my trip.

THANKS!!
