I have recently switched over from BMX, and have been planning a cross country trip for next summer. From what I have gathered so far, I know I want only front suspension. I need a bike that is durable and dependable for road and light-mid offroad. I am 5 foot 7, 170lbs. and very fit. My price range for a bike is $1200 and under (accesories not included). I will be using panniers, no trailer. There are not many bike shops in town, but from what I gathered, one of the two above would be my best bet for cross-country. If anyone has any suggestions or advice on which to go with or another selection that may prove worthy please let me know. Also, if anyone has done a TransAm please PM me so I can pick your brain.
