OK, I got a new(er) rear flip flop hub. Took my rear sprocket off the old one and put it on the new hub. The problem is that I now have "too many" threads for the rear sprocket. When I thread the rear sprocket on and then put on the lockring there are at least a couple of threads between the outside of the sprocket and the lockring even when the lockring is all the way tight. Is there a spacer I should have used somewhere? The courious part is this is the same sprocket I just took off the old hub where it worked fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Van

You can use a spacer for the new hub. There is some variability between different hubs requiring this approach. Measure the gap and ask your LBS for a spacer that's just larger than that.

Had the same trouble on my Mavic Ellipse wheels with Miche sprockets, but only on one side! I've put a Campag 1mm spacer in there (between sprocket and hub, though it would work the other way round with a conventional sprocket instead of the Miche splined carrier). The spacers are sometimes called BB spacers (same size, see?) and I had some laying around from 20 years ago when I used a 70mm axle in a 68mm BB shell to get the chainline I wanted. The spacers out of a Hollowtech II BB (Shimano part Y-1F8 13000) would work although they might be too wide at 2.5mm.

What sprocket are you using? Most are about 7mm thick from the shoulder to the centre of the teeth.
If your sprockets are unusually thin, what you need is a Sturmey-Archer spacer or two under the sprocket. They are hardened steel and 1/16" thick. I have a few of them kicking around.

Thanks for the info. I'll start search for a spacer. Interesting about the BB being same size Kinky, I'll check to see if I have one around. And from a rough measurement it looks like my sprocket is 6mm at most, possibly 5. Knowing the Sturmey-Archer brand name for the spacers will help I'm sure, seems when I need something for the fixed most of the LBSs need an explaination of what it is I'm looking for. Thanks Van
