As the proud owner of a new Cannondale T800 Tourer, I popped it on the roof carrier at the weekend
and went up to the Dales for a spin. On returning home I was amazed to discover that the carrier
attachment had made inch long creases on either side of the downtube where it attaches close to the
bottom bracket. The paint work is intact. This seems very strange given that I always cover the tube
with extra foam padding and my two other mountain bikes with similar oversize aluminium tubing have
been carried thousands of miles over the years without as much as a scratch. Is Cannondale tubing
that soft?
