There is a interesting interview in the Belgian newspaper "Standaard" today with Pierre Bordry, the head of the French anti-doping agency AFLD.
"Floyd Landis gave 8 samples during the Tour of 2006. As you know one of these was positive for testosteron according to WADA standards. On the demand of the American anti-doping agency we did tests on he other 7 B-samples. We found traces of synthetic testosteron in all of them, but we have to follow WADA procedures and in these cases the A-sample was negative because of the T/E"
Apparently Landis was taking testosteron but avoided a positive on the 7 samples because the first test is an T/E test and he stayed under the 4/1 threshold and in doing so avoided the CIR test that looks for synthetic testosteron

"Het probleem zijn echter de standaards die het World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) de labs oplegt. We hebben bijvoorbeeld weet van een nieuwe epo-variant, die overigens nog veel schadelijker is voor de gezondheid dan de klassieke variant. Maar de standaard van het Wada laat enkel toe op de klassieke variant te controleren. Een ander voorbeeld. Floyd Landis werd in de Tour 2006 acht keer gecontroleerd. Eén keer was hij positief op testosteron. Waarop we verder onderzoek hebben gedaan en vastgesteld dat het testosteron synthetisch van aard was.
