  1. Yes it's me again !

But with a serious question ......

I'm on my 3rd day of full blown flu, (feeling tons better than yesterday, thanks for asking). Only
the 2nd time I've ever had it, not bad considering I'm 573 months old !

Anyway, my blood sugar levels have been consistently high for the past 5 days (>11.2mmol/l). Current
level, (taken 10mins ago) was 13.8mmol/l ......... should I bother my doctor with this, or just wait
for the flu to subside, (which it already is) ? I'm assuming that no short/long term affects will be
forthcoming with levels this high for what will turn out to be no more than a week !

    TIA for any comments Malcolm

    See bddiabetes.comsick days.jsp and
bayercarediabetes.comindex.as p for some descriptions of
    sick day strategies.

Some points made in the diabetes class I recently attended are:

o Make sure you get plenty of liquids.

o If vomiting, stop taking oral meds. This is very important, especially if you are taking
    glucophage/metformin!

o If vomiting more than 6 hours or bg > 240 (and not dropping), call doctor.

Personally, I would have called my doctor already as my blood sugar levels get that high.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Hopefully you've contacted your doctor by now. High BGs complicate healing and make getting over the
    flu much harder.

Oops, a typo: I meant to say "as my blood sugar levels *never* get that high.
