Folding non folding tyres

I mean the normal ones with a metal bead. I want to transport a pair in
a normal suitcase. I saved a link from here which showed an elegant
solution but I can't find it now.

I have made a figure of 8 in the past but kinked the bead.

Could one of the stalwarts in here remind of how to do this please.

Well, not a tyre but the theory is the same:

Fold it into three.

Hold the tyre in front of you, hands at quarter to three.
Push the top and bottom of the tyre away with head / knee, and bring
hands together - tyre adopts 'pringle' shape.
Cross over hands, and overlap top and bottom.

Fiddle around until you have a small circle, three tyres thick.

Many thanks Don, this is what I was looking for, it is elegant isn't it?

Yes I have just succesfully tried this.

I can now bring my expensive studded tyres to Norway.

Thanks for all three very useful replies

I never got the hang of that method - my technique is much less elegant,
generally involving the use of knees and chin, but with the same end
result.
