I have the worst time finding shoes to use for cycling. I have size 10.5-11 feet. But they are
fairly flat, and odd shaped. I was at physio today for another issue, and she noticed the shape of
my foot while standing and said 'wow'. Basically, I have a narrow ankle, but then my mid-foot widens
quite a bit, kind of buldges outward along the outside of the foot while standing. The best
'scientific' way I could describe the location would be that it buldges outward around the 'lateral
portion of the plantar-fascia'. And then the foot narrows a bit towards the forefoot. Anyone have a
similar foot???:) I always get pain on that outside part of the foot, like the shoe is binding in on
it, and feels like the outside curve on the shoe is pushing up into
it.

Not sure if any orthotics would help, as it doesn't seem to entirely be an arch prob, unless it is
being caused somewhat by that outside curve of the sole pushing up.

I do have a pair of rocket 7's, and I can see where they curve outward around that area. They fit
pretty good, but I am not happy with the quality, carbon sole is peeling off, and they are gangly
and ugly looking. And I don't feel like spending another ~$500 US to get another pair. I would
*love* to find an off the shelf pair that I could get to work, but so far no luck. I have tried
carnac legends, sidi energy's (not mega though, figured would be bad with my narrow ankle?), nike
poggios (gonna try on a pair of hautacams, but probably will have same result as the poggios), and
Northwaves (cheap model). The Northwaves were probably the best so far, but not perfect.

Any foot specialists here????:) I've seen the web page for Lust shoes, but $900.........

Help!

If Rocket 7 still has your mold (i think they keep them for a year or so), a new pair would cost
less than $500. Actually, if this has happened within in a year or so of buying them, I'd complain
to the Rocket 7 people.

Sounds similar to my husband's feet....he had a biomechanical assessment last week to try to
understand ski boot fitting problems.....and the problem is caused by the neutral position of the
foot not being in line with the leg (so when you're sitting with legs out in front, the foot is
relaxed.....look at the foot...for normal foot you'd see the top of the foot, the toes, .....in a
turned out foot, you'd see the arch or at least some of it....you try explaining this with no
pictures!!)

So, this means each time the foot lands, the arch side of the foot has to be pushed down by twisting
the leg...pushing the side of the foot out to the edge of the shoe. Once standing still, his arches
look normal....it's just the angle of foot that's weird.

He's never had pain in other kinds of shoes - though he finds it difficult to find ones that
'fit'.....which I know understand means 'do not restrict the pushing out at the side'......we're
waiting for the orthotics to arrive!

Have a foot comparing party with some friends to see if you think this might be you (!!)

Cheers, Hedgehog
