BBC Five Live is a superb sports program.

Leaving aside the greatest rider ever - Merckx : who is the greatest of the remaining riders.

Hinault.

1982 : Wins TDF - 4 stages : Wins Giro - 4 stages : Wins GP De Nations

1981 : Wins TDF - 6 stages : Wins Paris-Roubaix, Amstel Gold, Criterium International, Dauphine,

1980 : Wins World Championships : Wins Giro : Wins Liege - B - Liege : Wins Tour of Romandie.

1979 : Wins TDF - 7 stages : Wins TDF Points Jersey : Wins Fleche Wallone :
Wins Tour of Lombardy : Wins Dauphine.

I haven't looked at 1983-1986 : but even this palmares alone marks him out as the greatest - apart from Merckx.
