Ok this might be a very dumb question for the pros but now all I wanna know is how to adjust my fork in the bike. I can't find a way to make it stiffer.
Bike: bought it two years ago at walmart a bit on the pricy side (for a walmart store; its definetely cheap compared to the pro bike shops). Dual suspension and the other stuff. The zoom fork: hlcorp.com.twhlcorp p2.htmOpen ↗. I am pretty sure its MODEL CH-250L thoght it does not say. (Funny thing is it says on the bike made in Canada but the fork is from Taiwan; sad).
Anyways, been looking for screws or bolts but no avail. Took that cork on the top of the fork off and there is nothing in there that I can see (well, about a feet into the pipe there is something that looks like a washer).
Anyone have any ideas? Hope it can be done and at this point I dont care if I sound stupid.
From the little info on the home page about the fork it is a spring fork, and probably dampened with oil. I have little experience with bike forks but some experience with motorbike forks. It could be so that you take the fork apart from the "under side" not the top. Take off the wheels and check if there is a hexbolt that holds it all together. If you want the spring to be harder, you can place spacers at the TOP, above the spring, if you want more damping, you use higher viscosity oil. Now, if you take it apart, you need to know how much oil goes into each leg. More oil, means more damping as well. So, it is not simple to do this. Go down to you LBS and ask.
Now, all said above is from expericence with motorbike forks, springs with oil.
I have looked underneath too. I don't know, all there is are two small holes on either side (about 1/8"😉, that I assumed were to let the air in and out (so we dont get the corks on the top poping off).
Yea, but going to a bike shop is a good idea. I think I could start and take it apart, but don't want to end up with a perfectly OK bike that you can't ride.
Thanks though. Going to a bike shop and praying for not-greedy people.
