Can anyone direct me to some good articles on this? I did a cursory
Google search and was directed two different times to an article by Josh
Putnam, but the link is dead.

My two bikes look very similar but are pretty different in the way they
handle. One seems more stable, it is the one with the more vertical
fork. The other has quicker steering, but is less stable and is the one
with the less vertical fork. I would like to learn more about it.

If I want to change the handling to make a bike more stable, shouldn't I
be able to affect it with a different fork? That is the kind of thing I
would like to learn.

The Josh Putnam link still works. Try:

Thanks for the links, Dustoyevsky and Art. So when I compare the two
bikes, one ought to have considerably more trail than the other. I'll
measure them both and confirm.
