Former world cycling champion Gianni Bugno received a suspended six-month jail sentence Tuesday for possession of amphetamines.<br /><br />The court also fined the Italian just less than $5,000 for buying the illegal stimulant. Similar sentences were handed down to four others linked to the case.<br /><br />Bugno was a world road champion in 1988, 1991 and 1992.<br />
