    For those looking for an Excel-based cycling log, I have updated my ProLog Cycling to the 2009 year. It is very comprehensive and easy to use. It is available in a free version all year long. You can download the spreadsheet at http://www.ProLogCycling.com .

    The spreadsheet was first released last year and has had hundreds of enhancements and changes to it over the year (thanks to the countless amount of feedback). Please try it out and let me know what you think. All constructive feedback is welcomed. An online manual with full pics is located at http://ProLogCycling.wikispaces.com .

    Ride On!

    Since the initial 2009 release I have many many upgrades to the Premium verion. Premium Edition users can upload the changes for free. Here is a summary:

    * Custom Charting: chart any two data points on one good looking chart!

    * Added a weekly distance chart. Like all charts, you can hide/unhide it if you don't use it.

    * International Date Support. You can now change the international date format via the Preferences Menu. Note that when you add a ride the date format changes and also on the log.

    * Column widths are now adjustable (at least on PCs). From the "ProLog Cycling 2009" menu choose "Headings" then "Show Excel Headings (PC). This will make the headings appear where you can adjust the width. When you are finished choose "Headings" then "Hide Excel Headings (PC & Mac). Note that no Mac Excel version supports this. This is purely a Mac Excel shortcoming (curses to Mr. Gates).

    * Auto Size Charts - From either the Preferences menu or the Admin Tab you can choose whether you want the chart tabs to automatically size to the screen size or not. When you click on the chart tab it will make the change automatically. If you don't like it, change the preferences.

    * Weight data - if you used ProLog Cycling 2009 Premium Edition and wish to import preferences and mileage summary then your monthly weight average will also be transferred over. It resides on the Annual tab. Or, you can fill it in manually. A new Weight chart is also on the Annual tab comparing weight data over multiple years.

    * The four "Custom Alpha/Numeric Columns" now allow for any format to be entered from the Log A Ride form. The four custom columns can be named from the Preferences form. They are unique because they can be formatted as numbers, percentages or general (alpha). You can also change how the summary for each month for the columns read. For instance, you can change the name of Custom Column 1 to "Percentage Something", choose to display the column or not, choose how to display the monthly sub- total and choose the column format. The four columns are very customizable and offer lots of way to track your data. As always, you have the four "Custom Alpha Columns". Together, this gives you 8 customizable columns.

    * Costs Tab - Now you can keep tabs on your expenses. Add all bike related expenses and it automatically calculates your cost per distance. There are 10 customizable expenses categories. This is a great way to keep track of that you have purchased during the year.

    * Annual Tab Charts - view your mileage and other data year after year in chart format. Go to the Annual tab and scroll down below the data table.

    * Mac Version

    Cheers!
