Freewheel for Shimano Sora 7-speed brifters

I was trying to think of some explanation for 'shimano seven
freewheel won't index properly'.

Indeed Shimano's 1970s sevens (notable for having the only
11t of the era) were casette only. The other sevens of the
seventies (Suntour, etc) are different spacing of course.
The OP said specifically Shimano.

So we're left with a conundrum - or poor reportage. If
indeed it is a Shimano seven freewheel with Shimano Sora
shifters and a Shimano ( un-DA) changer it, oughta work
properly . . .

At the time of the original post, I had left the bike at my LBS and
didn't know the brand of the freewheel.

I now know that it's a DuraAce and have watched it fail between 3 & 4.

A new Shimano freewheel is on its way. I hope this solves the mystery
and I can enjoy Pinarello steel with modern shifting.
