Hey Everybody,

I've got a rear 14-28 5 speed freewheel on a 130mm hub that is rubbing on the chainstay of my supercourse. The clearance is very tight. There isn't much space from the end of the freewheel to the locknut. The only solution I see is #1. finding a freewheel that has a smaller width (ultra 5 speed) #2. Trying a freewheel with an 11 or 12 tooth large sprocket. Am I only supposed to use certain freewheels for campy hubs? At this point, I can't even turn the wheel. The chain rubs too. -FTU

Bring it over here and I'll re-space the rear hub and re-dish the wheel, you'll get a 7 speed on a 130mm drop out if you want. ;)

FWIW. It sounds as though the hub may have been spaced for a single-speed/BMX freewheel ... and, as George indicates, it needs to be re-spaced to use a multi-cog freewheel.

BTW. You could, in theory, but an 8-speed SunRace freewheel on a rear hub that has 130mm rear spacing.
