Freewheel spacers?

Are you sure you can't get hold of a metal Shimano spacer? All the Shimano
cassette spacers I've used have been alloy.

The spacer is identical to the one used to space SA sprockets, knowledge
of which may get you a little further. Failing that, I may have one at
work which can be yours for postage. Email me if you want it.

How about 4 x Marchisio steel 0.5mm cassette shims*, available from Parker
International.
